Ever scrolled through Instagram and felt a pang of guilt because your veggie garden isn't Pinterest-perfect? Or maybe you’re drowning in information overload, trying to figure out where to even begin with this whole resilient living thing? I get it. It can feel overwhelming. That's exactly why I've created The Resilience Village.

For years, through workshops, events, and countless conversations, I’ve seen the need for a real, tangible community where people can learn practical skills and support each other on their self-sufficiency journey. Social media can be great, but it’s not always the best place for in-depth learning or genuine connection. So, I’m thrilled to announce the launch of The Resilience Village – a space for Western Australians to connect, learn, and grow together.

What Is The Resilience Village?

Whether you're a seasoned homesteader, someone who just planted their first tomato plant, or simply curious about what resilient living even is, you're welcome here. We're all about real skills, real community, and real results. This isn’t about striving for some unrealistic ideal. It’s about learning practical skills that make a real difference in your life.

Resilience isn't just about growing your own food (although that's a big part of it!). It’s about developing the capacity to handle whatever life throws your way. It's about making your dollar stretch further, reducing your reliance on store-bought stuff, and building a life that feels more secure and fulfilling. We’ll be exploring all of it, from growing food and raising animals to making your own cleaning products and building stronger community connections.

What You’ll Find in The Resilience Village

  • Practical Skills: It’s not just community sharing skills, it’s more. We’ll have tutorials (including video content coming soon), live events, and shared knowledge – all focused on hands-on skills you can actually use.

  • Supportive Community: Connect with other Western Australians who are on the same path. Share your wins (and your fails!), ask questions, and learn from others’ experiences. You’re not alone in this!

  • Real Results: See tangible improvements in your life as you learn new skills and build your resilience. This isn't about theory; it's about making real changes.

  • Ask Me Anything (AMA) Sessions: Have a burning question about compost? Not sure how to prune your fruit trees? Join me and other experts for live Q&A sessions.

  • Regional Connections: Connect with other members in your specific region. This is a great way to find local resources, swap seeds, and maybe even organise working bees.

  • A Non-Judgmental Space: We're all here to learn and grow. No question is too silly, and no skill level is too basic. We’re in this together.

Why Resilient Living Matters:

I’ve been involved in community engagement for years, and I’ve seen first-hand the need for this kind of space. People are hungry for real connection and practical skills. They want to be part of something bigger than themselves. They want to feel like they’re not alone in navigating the challenges of our times.

The Resilience Village is my answer to that need. It’s a place where we can come together, learn from each other, and build a more resilient future, one skill at a time.

How It Works

It’s only open to Western Australians at the moment, but we will expand as we grow. There are a collection of spaces where you can connect with other members, ask questions, and access a wealth of information on topics like Garden, Kitchen and Exchange. The community is hosted through a platform called Mighty Networks. You’ll need to create an account to participate in this forum, but you can also search for other communities while you are there. You might find even more than you bargained for!

Looking Ahead:

I believe that everyone should have access to the resources they need to start small, start today, and make a difference. That’s why the general community spaces in The Resilience Village will always remain free. However, to help support the ongoing running of the community and to offer more in-depth learning, there are paid sections with resources topic specific chats such as on making things like soap, preserving, pantry audits, no-dig gardening, propagating, and much more. This will allow me to create even more valuable content and keep the free community thriving.

Join The Resilience Village

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by life and yearn for change, or if you’re just looking for a supportive community to learn and grow with, I invite you to join us in The Resilience Village. It’s a place where we can all learn, connect, and build a more resilient future together. I can't wait to see you there!
